You indicate how you would like to get paid. Once you have earned £ 20 you can choose to have this paid-out automatically. Or decide yourself when you want to be paid, if you prefer to accrue more compensation first. If you have earned less than £ 20 in your account and want to be paid, we will charge a £ 1 transaction fee. Log-in on the SmartSpotter website and under the heading Payment you can indicate your payment preferences.
Most assignments will be done anonymously. Shop owners do not know you are a Spotter in their shop. It is not illegal to take photos, nevertheless this sometimes raises questions with shop employees. You are the face of SmartSpotter, therefore it is important you leave a good impression. Calmly explain that you carry out assignments on our behalf and that they can contact SmartSpotter. If the shop owner requests you to leave the shop, do so without objection and remain courteous. You will still submit your assignment, but you will not be paid. Explain why you were unable to complete the assignment under the heading Remarks at the bottom of the page. Tip: Do not be conspicuous when taking photos. This can lead shop owners to ban you from the shop.
It depends on your rank. Have you just started Spotting? Then you are a Junior Spotter and you can reserve two assignments simultaneously max. You have an hour to carry out the assignments and you can follow the training assignment. Once you have earned more than 100 SmartPoints you rise to the rank of Spotter. You then have the option to accept three assignments simultaneously and get two hours to complete the assignments. As a Senior Spotter you can accept four assignments simultaneously and have two hours to complete them. The highest rank that you can achieve is SmartSpotter or PRO Spotter. You can then accept five+ assignments simultaneously that stay open for three hours. In some cases, everyone has the same time limit for the assignment. The time limit is indicated at the start of the assignment. If you accept multiple assignments simultaneously be sure to carry out the assignments in the right shop. It sometimes happens that assignments are carried out in the wrong shop. Unfortunately we must reject these assignments.
To become a Spotter, you can register yourself at top of this page. If new Spotters are needed in your region, you will receive an email from us with instructions.

SmartPoints are points that you save when you carry out assignments. Accumulating these points allows you rise in rank. This allows you to accept more assignments simultaneously and allows you more time to carry out the assignments.
SmartSpotter wants to ensure the assignment is carried out at the right location, which is why you cannot submit an assignment from home.
You must declare the income with the tax authorities yourself. SmartSpotter is not responsible for your declarations.
The payment is based on the degree of difficulty, location or length of the assignment. Also on the number of shop visits and the number of assignments that are still open play a role. The factors that are significant vary per assignment.
When you're having difficulty logging in on your account, send us an email. We will resolve this for you as quickly as possible.
Some assignments require a certain number of results. We open the assignment at multiple locations. Once enough assignments are reserved, we remove the assignment from the app. In some cases other Spotters might have accepted the assignment just before you. Therefore, accept assignments as quickly as possible, so you can be sure that you can carry them out. Be aware of the time: the assignments are only available for a limited amount of time.
For some assignments, not all questions are mandatory. If your answer offers added value for the results, or when this is requested, fill in the assignment. Only take photos of relevant content; photos of e.g. the ground, your feet, or a potential life partner will not help your assignment.
SmartSpotter strives to assess every submitted assignment within 48 hours. Many assignments are often approved within as little as a few hours.
SmartSpotter will never pass on your personal data to third parties. Check out our general terms and conditions for more information.
In some cases the material that you have submitted did not meet the requirements that we set for the assignment and is then considered unusable. This means we must reject the assignment. When carrying out an assignment it is important that you bear in mind the following points:
- Take clear overview photos. An entire shelf or shop must be visible in the photo, from top to bottom and from left to right.
- When taking a close-up photo, make sure the products are clearly visible in the photo. Brands and prices must be legible.
- Ensure you upload the right photo to the right assignment. Carefully read through the questions first and orient yourself in the shop. If you upload the wrong photo, we will reject the assignment.
- Photos must be sharp. Blurry photos will be rejected.
- Photos must be correctly uploaded. If the photos are upside down, we will not approve the assignment.
- Provide detailed description when requested. The client will read this explanation and it is important that the description is done properly.
- If people can be recognised on the photo, the assignment will be rejected. Due to privacy reasons all people must appear unrecognisable.
I do not have good reception and I cannot submit the assignment at the requested location. What should I do?
It can happen that there is poor reception in a shop or area. You can do the following: open the accepted assignment at a place where you have limited reception and simply carry out the assignment at the requested location. Then, go to a location where you have a good Internet connection and send the assignment. However, be sure to do this as close to the shop as possible. If you are too far away from the location we will receive a notification indicating that you are too far away from the assignment location. We will look at the assignment carefully and consider whether the assignment is reliable.
It sometimes happens de shop is no longer located at the specified address. Click Incorrect address in the upper right corner. Next, take a photo of the shop front and answer a number of questions. You will receive £ 1 for this assignment and you will receive double the number of points that you would normally receive with this assignment.
