Unlucky 13

We see the challenges that retailers and suppliers face every day. In a busy retail environment, every second counts, and small mistakes lead to missed sales opportunities and disappointed customers.

These are the 13 mistakes we see most often.

The 13 biggest mistakes on the shop floor

1. Promotional communication is missing

Roughly 40% of the promotions are not present as agreed. Price tags, 1+1 promotion buttons and discount signs are often missing.

2. The 2nd placement is missing

Nationally, 35% of second placements are not placed as agreed. Think of a cupboard, promotional basket or promotional end that are missing.

3. Product out of stock

European research shows that the out-of-stock percentage across Europe is on average around 10%

4. Unreadable price tags

Nothing puts customers off more than unclear prices. Check regularly whether price tags are current and easy to read.

5. Price in store not the same as on receipt

Prices on the floor are often printed or loaded digitally, but printed (promotional) prices may differ from the receipt.

6. Product replaced incorrectly

An incorrectly replaced product can cause confusion and lead to missed sales opportunities.

7. Point of Sale material is missing

POS material stimulates sales, if placed properly. Too often, displays, floor stickers, wobblers and shelf banners are missing from the shop floor.

8. Digital advertising not shown

The (promotional) video is often not played on in-store screens, promotional end screens and pay point screens.

9. Overall experience not good

For a perfect serve: the right glass, the perfect temperature and a wedge of lime. The overall experience in the venue must also be right.

10. Product knowledge of staff not good

Product knowledge of employees is essential for customer satisfaction, efficient service and increasing sales opportunities. Well-informed staff makes the difference!

11. Poor customer service

No guidance in the store makes it difficult to find products and creates a negative shopping experience.

12. Planogram not correct

A planogram that is not properly adhered to leads to cluttered shelves. This can hinder sales.

13. Messy shop floor

A messy shop floor and poor hygiene give a negative impression and can put off customers. It causes frustration among consumers.
